Have you ever felt that you're like an astronaut in a space walk - you can shout as loud as you like because in space no-one can hear you scream . . .
I have a passion for the power of resources and education. I also think, in a grand old tradition of 'participation' that the best education comes from people doing it themselves. But sometimes I think I must have lost the plot, and that I think I'm communicating but in fact I'm in space and no-one can hear.
Actually when we presented some of the ideas for Halve it! at a workshop at the Micah conference in Thailand in September 06 we got a lot of energy, enthusiasm and ideas from the crowd there. And the fact that there was a good crowd there encourages me that someone's listening!
We took the comments from Thailand and added them into this, the first 'cut' of the Halve it! portal and now it's ready to be shaped, developed and filled by people like you - and most importantly used!
The whole Micah Challenge project has been a long haul, and we're not even at the half way mark. I sat down with Michael Smitheram in the very early days of it and what I heard was exciting. Now Michael's a little older, wiser and with the retirement of Shane Warne feels that his place is back in Oz. I'll miss him but look forward to carrying on working with him and to seeing the vision and goals of Micah Challenge growing to fruition.
Give us your thoughts and ideas, send us your pictures, videos, activity ideas. If we can help then contact us but most of all I hope Halve it! isn't just shouting in space!
